According to Nikki Finke, Disney and Warner Bros. are sorting out the rights to Father of the Bride 3. As of now, it seems that Charles Shyer will both direct and write the script and Steve Martin will reprise his role as the father.

However, there will be a twist in this flash-forward as young Matty is now 29 and it's his turn to get married- to a Navy SEAL's son. George is "thunderstruck and speechless" and has trouble coming to terms with his son's homosexuality; and so, his wife kicks him out of the house!

A source told Nikki Finke, "It's a timely idea. I told Charles I just hope it goes forward before gay stops trending..."
