All five seasons of the Emmy Award-winning drama Breaking Bad are now available to stream on Netflix, according to Mashable.com. Netflix uploaded the second half of the fifth and final season (episodes 9 through 16) today, Monday, February 24th as part of its content deal with AMC, which originally aired the series from 2008 to 2013. Netflix users previously had access to the first four seasons and the first half of the final season.
It was recently announced that although the critically acclaimed series ended in 2014, the story will live on in a spinoff centering on criminal lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk). Titled Better Call Saul after Goodman's office slogan, the series will air on AMC before becoming available on Netflix.
AMC and Netflix describe the spinoff as follows: "Better Call Saul tells the story of mall-based super lawyer Saul Goodman in the years before he became Walter White's attorney. From parking tickets to mass murder, from slip-and-fall to bond fraud, Saul handles it all."
Breaking Bad was created and produced by Vince Gilligan. Set and produced in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the series tells the two-year-long story of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a struggling high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer at the beginning of the series. He turns to a life of crime, producing and selling methamphetamine, in order to secure his family's financial future before he dies, teaming with his former student, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). The series has been labeled a contemporary western by its creator.
