A STORM IN THE STARS centers on Mary Wollstonecraft, later author Mary Shelley, and her love affair with poet Percy Shelley when she was 17 years old.

The film "aims to tell of the tumult of first love of a young woman out of step with her time...who wrote one of the first pieces of literary genre fiction in modern times".

The film is aiming to begin filming in 2015.

Fanning's upcoming projects include The Boxtrolls and How to Talk to Girls at Parties. She last starred opposite Angelina Jolie in Maleficent and is also known for her work in Super 8, Phoebe in Wonderland and more.
