CBS THIS MORNING Posts Network's Best 1st Quarter in Time Period in 22 Years

CBS THIS MORNING grew +11% in both viewers (3.81m from 3.44m) and adults 25-54 (1.0/07 from 0.9/07) in first quarter 2016, versus last year, making it CBS's best first quarter in viewers in 22 years and in adults 25-54 in five years in the morning time period. Moreover, CBS THIS MORNING was the only morning news broadcast to post gains in both viewers and in the key news demographics, compared to first quarter 2015, according to Nielsen most current ratings.

CBS THIS MORNING, America's fastest growing morning news broadcast, is also up +10% in women 25-54 (1.1/08 from 1.0/07) in first quarter 2016 compared to first quarter 2015. At the same time, NBC is down -3% in viewers and -5% in women 25-54 while ABC is down -10% in viewers, -12% in adults 25-54 and -14% in women 25-54 compared to last first quarter.

Since launching on Jan. 9, 2012, CBS THIS MORNING has grown its audience by more than +1 million viewers (+49%, 3.81m from 2.56m).

CBS closed the viewership gap with NBC by 510,000 viewers compared to first quarter 2105, marking the closest CBS has been with NBC in viewers in a first quarter in 22 years (since first quarter 1994). CBS also cut the viewer deficit with ABC by 910,000 viewers compared to first quarter 2015, making this the closest CBS has been with ABC in viewers in a first quarter in 17 years (since 1st Quarter 1999).

For the week ending March 25, CBS THIS MORNING posted the largest year-to-year gains in viewers and all key news demographics among the network morning news broadcasts, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. CBS THIS MORNING posted double-digit percentage gains in viewers (+10%, 3.59m from 3.28m), adults 25-54 (+13%, 0.9/07 from 0.8/07), women 25-54 (+11%, 1.0/07 from 0.9/07) and women 18-49 (+17%, 0.7/06 from 0.6/06), compared to last year. ABC declined -14% each in viewers, women 25-54 and women 18-49 and -13% in adults 25-54 compared to last year. NBC is down -7% in women 18-49 compared to last year.

CBS THIS MORNING has grown its audience for 42 consecutive months while ABC has declined 23 consecutive months and NBC has declined 22 consecutive months in year-over-year comparisons. ABC has not experienced year-over-year monthly gains since April 2014 and NBC has not posted gains since May 2014.
