CBS News will receive the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award, considered the highest honor in electronic journalism, for coverage of Europe's migrant crisis that was featured on CBS THIS MORNING and the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY. The awards ceremony will be held at Columbia University next month.

This year's award represents the ninth time over the past 10 years that CBS News has been recognized by the duPont awards committee.

Over a period of many months, beginning in August, CBS News provided extensive coverage and breaking news reports with three teams of reporters filing from more than six countries as migrants poured into Europe.

Charlie D'Agata reported first in Hungary, then Slovenia and Germany. He followed the trail of sixteen-year-old Jawan from Greece to Germany.

Mark Phillips picked up the story in Croatia, as refugees rushed to cross the country before the borders were sealed. Phillips documented THE JOURNEY and saw their desperation morph into rage and rioting as borders closed.

Holly Williams examined the moving plight of children travelling alone. In a story filmed with hidden cameras, Williams found many children were put to work in garment factories inside Turkey. She also reported from Turkey and Greece where hundreds of migrants had drowned when their boats overturned. While following one Syrian family, Williams witnessed heavily armed men in unmarked speed boats race towards the migrants and cut their fuel lines, leaving them terrified and adrift in a choppy sea. The Greek government launched an official investigation as a result of Williams' reporting.
