After a quick recap of Season 1, tonight's episode of SLEEPY HOLLOW jumped right into the action - one year after where the last season left off.

Immediately the show jumps into action with an interaction with the headless horseman. But not all is at it appears. After a quick gun fight, our witnesses learn that a key once used by Benjamin Franklin is in fact the key to purgatory.

Next, they follow to a dungeon where Henry Parrish is being kept prisoner.

As he is being interrogated we learn that everything we've seen up until this point is untrue, and are just visions that Abby is having in purgatory. She's still stuck there, and crane is still in a coffin.

The opening of this episode is incredibly effective, exciting, and everything I've come to expect from SLEEPY HOLLOW. Time after time the writers show that they can perfectly execute these incredible sequences where we get tons of information and action all together.

Tonight's episode jumps between purgatory and the real world where Crane is stuck in the coffin. Before the second commercial break he does manage to escape, but I won't ruin how he does it here. Meanwhile, Abby is still looking for a way to communicate from beyond to Crane.

While all of this is happening, Jennifer has been trapped inside a warehouse, having been kept there by Parrish. She manages to get a message to Crane with her location, and he steals an ambulance and managers to rescue her.

Crane and Jennifer being a search for the key to free Abby, while Abby has managed to locate the method Katrina (who has been captured by the horseman) used to communicate with the real world and manages an interaction with Crane. They believe Moloch wants them to find Franklin's key so he can release an army into the real world. Crane promises Abby he will return for her before consciously returning to the stolen ambulance.

Crane and Jennifer manage to find the key, and immediately the episode jumps to show Katrina being kept captive by the headless horseman. He is not hurting her, and seems to still show affection towards her. Using some kind of enchantment placed around Katrina's neck, he regains a head, and promises Ichabad Crane shall be dead by midnight.

With key in hand, Crane enters purgatory (we're treated to some amazing visual effects here) to save Abby. As he finds her, she is being tricked by a false version of himself to drink inside the underworld - which is forbidden for reasons not quite made clear. After an annoying commercial break and a few minutes of intense action - Crane and Abby manage to escape safe and sound, and the sisters are reunited. The key manages to fade away magically, and I don't think we'll be seeing it as a plot device again.

The end of the episode wraps everything up in a nice bow - and in a brief cut-away we see Henry Parrish confronted by Moloch. He informs him the key has been destroyed.

Moloch sends him a creature in the form of a Knight, controlled by his own soul. Something tells me this is going to be the main focus of next week's episode... (Pictured)

Best line of the episode: "My wife is now a captive of the horseman of death and the horseman of war is my son." -Crane

Best moment of the episode: Abby decapitates an imposter Crane! (Pictured)

This episode had all of the things that made me fall in love with SLEEPY HOLLOW to begin with. They brought some new folklore into the plot without detracting at all from the main story - which brings something exciting to the premier episode that we haven't seen before.

I'm happy to report that Crane is adapting to the 21st Century well. In this episode we seem him use a cellphone and automatic weaponry. He also drives, but didn't know how to put the vehicle into reverse. (Although, when I first got behind the wheel I confused forwards and back more times than I care to admin as well!)

Overall, this week we got everything I could have possibly wanted and more. I'm exciting to see where the plot leads, especially now that Henry Parrish has new powers from Moloch at his command. I'm sure we will continue to see more of his character in the near future as he has now been promoted to series regular.
