In the opening scene Scott is without his inhaler and Malia and Mama McCall come to his rescue. As Mama gets Scott the medicine he needs, Malia tries to fight off the Dread Doctor to no avail and I'm sure you were all thinking the same thing I was: Where did she get her boots? So cute!!!

So this isn't exactly the best advertisement for reading, as the gang begins to read the book "The Dread Doctors," they all start to go a little nuts.

Kira, can't read it at all. Why? Thanks to Mason's research into Kitsune's, she can't understand language tricks which is what the book is entirely composed of. Theo isn't affected by the book at all, Scott, Lydia and Stiles break into violent hallucinations all involving childhood traumas from their past. The only conclusion Lydia can actually come to is that her memory of her surgery, was actually the memory of someone else's surgery. The Dread Doctors newest chimera.

Deep in Lydia's hallucination, she flashes back to when her mother found her grandmother at Eichen House after she had just drilled a hole in her head. Scott flashes back to when his dog was eaten by a coyote (this is my best guess) and Stiles flashes back to his mother, Claudia, suffering from dementia and believing that Stiles was going to kill her. Were all these things that really happened? Yikes! While in said hallucinations, Scott suffers a near fatal asthma attack, Lydia blacks out and Stiles is attacked by a real life chimera. See? Not the best ad for reading...

In other news, Liam and Hayden are starting to understand each other a little more. Liam is a little more forthright with trying to prove he's sorry for the knockdown, dragout fight in 6th grade and is determined to prove to Hayden he's a good guy. He offers to pay her back for the money he cost her at Sinema as he thinks she's paying for medication from her injury all those years ago. In reality, she's paying for a kidney transplant a few years back. On a hunch, Liam breaks a glow stick to look at Hayden's real eyes. They're blue!

Malia and Mama McCall save Scott from being killed by the Dread Doctor and Theo winds up saving Stiles once again. In doing so, Theo reveals his claws thus showing Stiles that he had a right to be suspicious about him. However, Theo begs him not to tell anyone as he never told anyone that Stiles killed Donovan.

Couple Things:

  • Theo did share his recording of Kira speaking Japanese in her sleep and Scott revealed to him the he doesn't fully trust Kira. Are we getting the old bait and switch here? Is Theo going to actually turn out to be a good guy? A good guy that works for the Dread Doctors and breaks his faux parents fingers? It's possible...?

  • The Liam and Hayden romance is adorable. I admit to enjoying it. Although, I'd like more Mason and Brett time. I hope that story evolves soon.

  • Which was hotter? Parrish teaching Lydia self-defense or Malia questioning Theo in the weight room. I'm not proud of this? But I'm gonna go for the weight room. Gratuitous weight lifting and heavy breathing? I'm all in, MTV. Plus, I still have a soft spot for the hope of Stydia.

  • So Hayden had blue eyes. She's a wolf who has taken an innocent, if memory serves. Is that correct?

  • Why is the AP Bio teacher so mean?

  • Anyone else miss Coach Finstock? Would love to have seen his commentary on the Hayden vs. Liam throwdown on the field.

  • Lots of people at Eichen House drilling holes in their heads. Anyone gonna address that?

  • I know I have a soft spot, but damn, that was a heartwrenching memory for Stiles.

  • I seriously want Malia's boots.

Lines I Loved:

Sheriff: These guys...

Malia: The Dread Doctors.

Sheriff: Are we really calling them that?

(I couldn't agree more, Sheriff Stiles.)

Lydia: My mom's book club usually has more wine.

Stiles: They also probably didn't read books that cause violent hallucinations.
