With the pop culture phenomenon that is SHARK WEEK fast approaching (week of July 5th), and JAWS returning to theaters, marketers are stepping up their game to get their bite of the shark hype. Seattle based Oberto Beef Jerky might have hooked itself a chance to land in the social feeding frenzy with a video of a shark chomping on some jerky bait. Check it out below!
Can beef jerky attract sharks? Oberto Beef Jerky, the nation's leading all natural beef jerky brand, recently went on a sea quest to find out if in fact the mighty Great Whites with high protein demand would have an appetite for its protein-rich beef jerky. The result of Oberto's experiment, captured on the video, says it all and we'd love to offer you a sneak peek: Real or "Shark Tale" - you decide. The team at Oberto Beef Jerky claims the video was shot in False Bay near Cape Town, South AFRICA in late April, which is the start of the peak season for Great White activity. The bay itself extends from Cape of Good Hope to Cape Hangklip. Oberto's CEO and his expedition team trolled a giant piece of jerky around the region (the same way National Geographic and others have trolled seal decoys for a good seven hours from Cape of Good Hope down to Danger Point in Gansbaai) - passing Seal Island and "Shark Alley," the area between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock.Videos
