The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Presents PLAY ALONG WITH THE CSO, 5/11

The CSO is inviting musicians from the community to once again join professional musicians in their event, Play Along with the CSO. The event will take place on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 1:00-3:30pm at the Chattanooga Market. Musicians are invited to perform in one of three different performances, which will take place at 1:00pm, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm. Play Along registration costs $35 and includes a free t-shirt, music, and the opportunity to have coaching in advance with a CSO musician. Music to be presented includes: Grieg's Suite No. 1 from Peer Gynt, Movement 4 - "In the Hall of the Mountain King"; Elgar's Variation IX (Nimrod) from Enigma Variations; Copland's "Hoe-Down" from Rodeo; and John Williams' "Imperial March" from Star Wars. All performances are free for Chattanooga Market attendees.

Members of the CSOYO ensembles will be performing inside the First Tennessee Pavilion at 11:30am and 12:10pm. They will also present an instrument 'petting zoo' from 1:00-3:30pm.

About Us

The mission of the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera is to inspire, engage, and enrich the greater Chattanooga community through music and music education. The 2013-14 season marks 81 seasons for the CSO, which played its first concert on November 5, 1933. The CSO, conducted by Music Director Kayoko Dan, consists of top players from the Chattanooga area as well as from across the southern region. The CSO performs a full season of Masterworks, Pops, Chamber, and Volkswagen Series concerts from September through May, as well as a variety of community, education and engagement events throughout the year.
