The Merola Opera Program and the San Francisco Public Library Main Branch present a free screening of Verdi's opera RIGOLETTO at the next Merola Goes to the Movies, on Sunday, March 20, 1:00 pm, in the Koret Auditorium of the San Francisco Public Library Main Branch (100 Larkin Street). Admission is free.

The film is preceded by a short talk by a Merola representative, who will give an insider's look at the opera.

An embittered jester makes comic fodder out of human tragedy only to find himself at the heart of his own drama when his beautiful, sheltered daughter falls in love with the faithless duke he serves. The Staatsoper stages this stirring production of a Verdi masterpiece.

This 1981 Wiener Opera Philharmoniker production stars Luciano Pavarotti, Ingvar Wixell, Edita Gruberova, Victoria Vergara, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Riccardo Chailly. In Italian with English subtitles.

Admission is free. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors for seating open at 12:30 pm.
