North Carolina Opera to Announce the 2014-15 Season at a Kickoff Event at CAM Raleigh, 6/30

On June 30, North Carolina Opera will announce the company's 2014-15 season at a kickoff event at CAM Raleigh, 409 W. Martin St. in Raleigh. The admission-free event, which runs 6 to 8 p.m., features musical highlights from the upcoming season, snacks, and beverages, including beer and wine. The kickoff is open to the public, but RSVPs are requested byJune 27. For more information or to make reservations, please call (919) 792-3856. "NCO's 2013-14 season, with Così fan tutte, La bohème, Rusalka and the "Opera in the Pines" concert, was a huge success. For 2014-15, we are presenting a season that builds on that success and furthers our company's mission," said NCO General Director Eric Mitchko.

NCO's Artistic Director & Principal Conductor Timothy Myers, who had major triumphs last season at NCO and other American opera companies, will introduce the 2014-15 season. "The new season offers two full-staged Italian operas, a concert performance featuring music from a monumental German opera, and a new one-act piece in English based on the life of the world's most recognizable person," noted Myers. The kickoff features tenorJason Karn and soprano Lora Fabio, accompanied by pianist Kate Lewis, who will sing several highlights from the season.

The 2014-15 season includes performances at venues throughout the Triangle, including Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater, and Meymandi Concert Hall. The season features both popular returning artists and includes several notable company debuts.

At the kickoff, patrons may renew or purchase subscriptions for the 2014-15 season. The first 30 people placing subscription orders at the event will receive a $50 gift certificate toSynergy Spa. NCO is grateful to Synergy Spa for donating these gift certificates.

North Carolina Opera was formed in 2010 from the merger of the Opera Company of North Carolina and Capital Opera Raleigh. It is dedicated to presenting operatic performances at the highest level throughout the Triangle.
