Metropolitan Opera Announces Cast Update for IL TROVATORE

Antonello Palombi will sing Manrico in tonight's performance of Verdi's Il Trovatore, replacing Marcello Giordani, who is ill.

Palombi made his Met debut in 2014 as Radamès in Verdi's Aida. Earlier this season, he sang his first Met performance of Manrico. The Italian tenor sings frequently in his native country, where his other recent performances have included Faust in Boito's Mefistofele at both the Teatro di Pisa and the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca; the title role in Giordano's Andrea Chénier at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples; and Vasco de Gama in Meyerbeer's L'Africaine at La Fenice. Later this season, he will sing Don Alvaro in Verdi's La Forza del Destino at the Opera di Genova and both Radamès and Luigi in Puccini's Il Tabarro at the Teatro di San Carlo.

Tonight's performance of Il Trovatore is conducted by Marco Armiliato and also stars Angela Meade as Leonora, Dolora Zajick as Azucena, Spanish baritone Juan Jesús Rodríguez in his Met debut as di Luna, and Kwangchul Youn as Ferrando.
