Emerging Artists Bring Vocal Fireworks and Comic Timing to Verdi's Effervescent Final Opera

WHAT: Under the direction of Metropolitan Opera conductor Joseph Colaneri, with coaching by Master Artist-in-Residence Regina Resnik, the critically acclaimed Mannes Opera presents a fully staged production of Verdi's Falstaff in collaboration with The Mannes Orchestra.

WHEN: May 5 and May 6, 7:30 p.m.

ABOUT FALSTAFF: One of the true favorites in the canon of comic opera, Falstaff makes one of Shakespeare's most memorable figures resonate with Verdi's musical genius. "Verdi's Falstaff is one of the indisputable masterpieces of the operatic literature," said conductor Colaneri. "Filled not only with wonderful arias, but great ensembles, making it in many ways the perfect opera for a conservatory young artist cast."

ABOUT THE MANNES OPERA: The New York Times has praised The Mannes Opera under Maestro Colaneri's leadership, noting "the program has earned a stellar reputation for the quality of its presentations and the excellence of its student singers." Regina Resnik,Master Artist-In-Residence at Mannes, coached the student performers of Falstaff in intensive sessions. Production professionals include Laura Alley (stage director), Roger Hanna (set designer), Helen E. Rodgers (costume designer), Jeff Davis (lighting designer), and Sevrin Anne Mason (makeup and wig designer).
