Broadway actor Danny Burstein will make his Metropolitan Opera debut in the non-singing role of Frosch in this season's performances of Die Fledermaus. The new production of Johann Strauss II's operetta, conducted by Adam Fischer and directed by Jeremy Sams in his Met directorial debut, features new English-language lyrics by Sams and dialogue by acclaimed Broadway playwright Douglas Carter Beane.

Burstein has appeared in 13 Broadway productions, earning Tony nominations for his performances as Tokio in Golden Boy (2012), Buddy in Follies (2011), Luther Billis in South Pacific (2008), and Aldolpho in The Drowsy Chaperone (2006). He also just appeared in Encores! The Cradle Will Rock.

Burstein's other Broadway credits include Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, A Class Act, Titanic, Company, The Flowering Peach, Three Men on a Horse, Saint Joan, The Seagull, and A Little Hotel on the Side. He has also appeared in numerous off-Broadway and regional productions, most recently Talley's Follyat the Roundabout Theatre Company, and on film and television, including the role of Lolly Steinman on HBO's "Boardwalk Empire."

Die Fledermaus opens on New Year's Eve in a gala celebration and continues for fourteen performances through Saturday, February 22. The cast includes Susanna Phillips as Rosalinde, Christine Schäfer and Jane Archibald as Adele, Anthony Roth Costanzo as Orlofsky, Christopher Maltman as Eisenstein, Michael Fabiano as Alfred, Paulo Szot as Dr. Falke, and Patrick Carfizzi as Frank.
