Concerts at Kent Town say its with "great joy and affection" that they welcome Robert Dawe back to their popular concert series.
Last year, after many years of battling illness, Robert returned to performing on stage. His appearance at Concerts at Kent Town relaunched his career as a concert performer. Since then he has given several successful concerts and recitals throughout Adelaide. And, his career now spans in excess of its 50+ years and looks like continuing for many years to come. Robert will perform works by: Handel, Schubert, Benjamin Britten, plus an Irish Folk Song and music from Camelot and Porgy and Bess. He will be accompanied by Damien Mansfield, organist and pianist. Robert Dawe studied singing with the late Arnold Matters at the Elder Conservatorium, where he himself was a part time teacher for 26 years. He was also Choir Master and Voice teacher at Prince Alfred College for 16 years. Robert Dawes's numerous oratorio appearances range from Handel's Messiah and the Bach Passions to Britten's War Requiem. He is regarded as an Elijah of distinction, having sung the role countless times in every major concert venue in Australia. His concert appearances for the ABC alone total well over 150.
