TOKiMONSTA resurrects Dr Octagon, jolts mainstream dance fans into hip-hop's avant-garde and takes scenesters on a psychedelic adventure with her first music video for Ultra Music, "The Force." TOKiMONSTA (Jennifer Lee) and Ultra scored big with tastemakers at THE FADER who premiered the video yesterday, Tuesday, February 6. Check out the video!

The Los Angeles beatsmith surprised fans last month with the audio preview of the track which features Ultramagnetic MC Kool Keith in a classic string of loosely themed non sequiturs. Fans of the massive Ultra Music channel, accustomed to arena-ready dance anthems, were unsure what to think of the off-kilter trip-out at first. This prompted TOKi to rally the hundreds of thousands of dedicated fans who know her from L.A's seminal Low End Theory, Flying Lotus's Brainfeeder, Japan's Art Union and her collaboration album Analogue Monsta on Scion A/V. The flame war quickly turned in her favor, with commenters noting that "TOKiMONSTA's production is ridiculous on this track and from the little else I've heard, dope in general," and "I F**KIN' LOVE THIS."

One such dedicated fan is Teppei Maki, an aspiring Japanese designer who had responded to a call for visual collaborators late last year via TOKi's Twitter. The two exchanged concepts and notes (having never met) and arrived at the stunning hyper-visual aesthetic you see in the three-minute video.

TOKiMONSTA's full length album HALF SHADOWS will launch in April on Ultra, featuring collaborations with notable guests MNDR, Gavin Turek and more.
