"Heartburn," the debut single from Brisbane-based singer, songwriter and producer Wafia, is out now and hit #1 on the Hype Machine viral chart. Listen to the track, co-produced by mentor and labelmate Ta-ku and co-written with Ben Abraham, here.

The track is taken from Wafia's XXIX EP, set for release November 20 on Future Classic. The EP, named for the elemental symbol for copper, features four new tracks with production from Ta-ku and Thrupence and an appearance from Brisbane's Vancouver Sleep Clinic.

Wafia recently made her North American live debut alongside Ta-ku at Future Classic's MoMA PS1 Sunday Session, performing "Heartburn" as well as her cover of Kanye West and Estelle's "American Boy" with Ta-Ku, "American Girl." The two also joined Charles Murdoch for a rendition of "Frogs."

Wafia, the solo project of Wafia Al-Rikabi, rose to prominence after posting a Thrupence-produced cover of Mario's "Let Me Love You" online in 2012. The track reached #1 on Hype Machine shortly thereafter and has been streamed more than five million times since its release. "Heartburn" is her first original track.
