According to CNN and an official statement on the band's website, U2 frontman Bono has injured his arm in a Central Park cycling fall and now needs surgery to repair it.

The band was scheduled to spend this upcoming week as The Tonight Show band, but has called off their scheduled appearances.

The statement from the band's website reads: 'It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time - we're one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it. We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding.'

News of Bono's injury comes just a few days after news broke that a door fell of the plane of his private jet on a trip from Dublin to Berlin.

Bono and U2 bandmate The Edge are known on Broadway for contributing the music and lyrics to 2011's Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. The musical was based on Marvel's Spider-Man comic book series, but it gained much nororeity the year before it premiered due to a series of varying production troubles.
