Billed as 'the world's first slam-dunk competition movie', Slamma Jamma is hitting theaters on October 21, 2016.

The high-profile film, about a former basketball star who gets out of prison to win the national slam dunk championship, is already being discussed as the next classic basketball movie.

"The film is very touching and very funny at the same time," says Tim Chey, the film's director. "And it's set around some of the most spectcular streeting dunking the world will ever see."

The film stars Chris Staples who plays the lead role of Michael Diggs. Staples is also a slam-dunk champion himself. The film also stars NFL great Michael Irvin as the swarmy sports agent who use to represent Diggs.

"Chris is a huge acting talent beside being a phenomenal dunker," says Chey. "And Michael Irvin is incredible as the sports agent."

The film hits 2,000 theaters in October. The highly-anticipated trailer goes live on May 27, 2016.

In the film, Michael Diggs, an ex-convict wrongfully accused, prepares for the national slam dunk competition while finding redemption in those he loves and himself. His world collides as he reaches out to his lost love, his stray brother, and his dying mother.
