Saycon Sengbloh was featured as the powerful Sandra Iszadore in the Tony award winning musical Fela! about the life of afro-beat superstar Fela Kuti. She is featured on the Grammy nominated Fela! Broadway soundtrack. Warrior is a collaboration with house D.J. Serge Negri following his release the "Cigarette EP" featuring vocalist Tasha Mabry, Serge geared up for this Warrior EP release with Saycon. Saycon Sengbloh has had an exciting journey from Atlanta to New York City. Fresh from the hottest new Afro-beat musical "Fela!" onBroadway, Saycon appeared as the delicious Sandra Iszadore and as "Abe Lincoln" in the Broadway Revival of "Hair". Being photographed and named one of the hottest up and coming acts in the annual juice issue of VIBE magazine. "Fela!" the musical won several Tonyawards! Saycon's appears on the Grammy nominated soundtracks for "Fela!",and the Broadway revival soundtrack of "Hair". She also appears in the films American Gangster and Across the Universe. She began performing as a kid in plays and musicals at Tri-Cities School for Visual and Performing Arts. After numerous productions with the Freddie Hendrick's Youth Ensemble of Atlanta, she appeared in Tyler Perry's first musical "I Know I've Been Changed." She worked at the Tony Award winning Alliance Theater Company under artistic directors Kenny Leon & Susan Booth. Saycon has the honored distinction of being the first African-American woman to perform Broadway as Elphaba in Wicked the musical. She toured the US and Japan as the seductive Mimi in "Rent"! Favorite theatrical roles are Aida in "Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida" , and playing Nettie in the Atlanta premiere and Celie,from Oprah Winfrey'sBroadway production "The Color Purple-the Musical." An independent music artist, Saycon's previous R&B Pop CD release "Southern Pin-Up" and other merchandise is also available online.
