Today Bay Area quartet SWMRS released their debut album Drive North via their own Uncool Records. Produced by FIDLAR frontman Zac Carper in the band's hometown of Oakland, CA, the album is available no HERE.

Drive North is currently charting at iTunes, peaking at No. 37 on the top albums chart (overall) and No. 5 on the top albums chart (alternative) on preorder sales alone last evening. Single "Figuring It Out" is currently featured in iTunes hot tracks and new artist spotlight (alternative).
RollingStone.com treated SWMRS fans to an early listen of the album, premiering it a week ahead of release last Friday. Describing the record's diverse influences, singer Cole Becker offered, "I like to think our sound is very modernist, because it was born out of us having every type of music at our fingertips, a luxury that is distinct to our generation. It has all the raw emotional energy of teenage power pop with the subwoofing low end of your favorite hip-hop albums."
Earlier this week, Nylon Magazine premiered the band's new music video for current single "Figuring It Out," praising SWMRS as "the personification of youth" in the clip. Directed by fellow Oakland artist Kreayshawn, the video can be seen HERE.
Drive North features previously released tracks "Miley" and "Uncool". i-D Magazine premiered "Miley" in September, praising the song as "the most punk tribute to Miley Cyrus ever." The band's DIY music video for the track can be seen HERE. The album also features an abridged version of "Harry Dean," a previously 17-minute epic the band originally recorded to soundtrack Saint Laurent Paris's Spring/Summer 2016 presentation. SWMRS spoke extensively on their presence in the fashion world to WWD earlier this week.
To celebrate the release of Drive North, last weekend, SWMRS hosted Uncool Fest: a two-night hometown release party at seminal Bay Area DIY space 924 Gilman. SWMRS headlined both nights of the event, performing alongside a hand-picked selection of bands including, The Frights, No Parents, Dog Party, and more.
Next week, SWMRS will embark on a massive US headlining tour with support from San Diego's The Frights. Bandsintown announced the tour alongside an interview with SWMRS singer Cole Becker. Tickets for all shows are on sale now and available HERE. A complete list of upcoming SWMRS tour dates can be found below.

There's never been a punk band like SWMRS, the Oakland quartet that combines the caustic broadsides of The Clash, the amphetamine bubblegum of the Ramones, and the searing lyrics, propulsive energy, and raw honesty of Public Enemy, Frank Ocean, A Tribe Called Quest and Kurt Cobain. Formed after the dissolution of their previous band, Emily's Army, the childhood friends (Cole Becker, lead vocals, rhythm guitar; Max Becker, lead vocals, lead guitar; Joey Armstrong, drums, backing vocals; and Sebastian Mueller, bass, backing vocals) showcase telepathic chemistry on their formal debut, "Drive North." Produced by Zac Carper of FIDLAR, it's suffused with coming of age jams, subversive anthems to Miley Cyrus, and a sense of freedom forged out of modern-day confusion. The guitars draw blood, the drums detonate, the voice is unique-the sound is timeless.
