The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts' critically acclaimed Live in the Lobby music series is pleased to announce RUPERT WATES TRIO AND THE TOBY TOBIAS ENSEMBLE on Thursday, November 18 at 7:30 PM. This will be an evening of jazz inspired folk music from two international singer songwriters now living in New York.

Tickets: $10 and include a beverage at the bar; available at the box office the day of the performance or call 631-207-1313 to reserve tickets. Seating is limited; doors open at 7:00 pm. RUPERT WATES was born in London, and has released six albums. His recordings have gained outstanding reviews and continue to be aired on college and mainstream radio all over the world. Rupert has been a full-time songwriter since 1992 when he signed an exclusive deal with Eaton Music Publishing. Ryan Moore of "AMP The Magazine" wrote that he is "more compelling, more sympathetic and more emotionally accessible than many other modern performers."

Moving to Paris in 2001, Rupert developed his skills as a singer and performer and formed his own group. In 2005 he recorded the album 'Sweet or Bitter Wine,' his first as a solo artist. Since September 2006, he has been based in the USA, and since coming to the US, has won over 30 songwriting awards. His music has found a warm reception in America. The Forwardian Arts Society, in describing a recent performance, wrote, "It was as if Mr. Wates was standing at the well of humanity and drawing up the emotions and experiences of mankind to the surface where they could nourish those who partook of them from his vocal and musical instruments."

THE TOBY TOBIAS ENSEMBLE is a Long Island-based band, under the direction of South African-born guitarist and composer, Toby Tobias. Their music can best be described as Modern Folk/Jazz, influenced by Funk & World Rhythms.

Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Toby has immersed himself in all genres of American Music of the last 50 years. He has garnered a strong following of listeners on Long Island and beyond. A graduate of the prestigious Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem Israel, he continues to search for material that stays as close to his musical roots as possible while at the same time reaching for new and exciting musical universes.

The core of the Ensemble is comprised of Toby Tobias and Steve Blatt, a Huntington, Bass player. Together they have strung together an impressive and eclectic array of original and popular tunes that they have performed at numerous venues throughout Long Island & NYC over the past several years. From a simple duo to a 6-piece larger Ensemble, they have found the right mix of songs, orchestration and performance ability to delight and enthrall crowds wherever they have the opportunity to perform.

Live in the Lobby Volume 1 CDs are available at the Patchogue Theatre and the Volume 1 and Volume 2 recordings are available for download at ParadiddleRecords.com.
