Os Mutantes is proud to release "Black & Gray" today via Krian Music Group. Os Mutantes' founding member Sergio Dias, who became a US citizen last year and voted for Hillary Clinton in the first Presidential election he was eligible to take part in, penned the song following Donald Trump's victory. Dias was in disbelief at that outcome and reacted in song. He likens Trump's victory to something he experienced in Brazil. "Black & Gray" finds Dias bemoaning the world situation, concerned for humanity and human rights, fearing global war, and satirically asking Melania Trump to help - further amplifying the direness of the situation.

Spotify:

"To whom can we ask for help? The Senate? No, Melania, our first lady... Maybe she can enlighten our president and make some changes... I've never seen Trump extend a slight tenderness or affection to this poor immigrant... like me. Does he have her behind a wall also?" - Sergio Dias

Os Mutantes is no stranger to political protest. The Brazilian psychedelic rock band became a key group in The Tropicalia movement of the 60's. The Tropicalistas music and lyrics were often anarchistic and anti-authoritarian - making the bands targets of the military junta that ruled Brazil at the time.

Since then, Dias has carried the band's message forward, releasing the critically acclaimed Fool Metal Jack in 2013, and touring the US earlier this year to the praise of The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, New Yorker, and more. It's that same spirit in Dias that brought him to write "Black and Gray" - which premiered yesterday via Billboard - who noted that the legendary act was "purposefully disruptive" from the start. Pitchfork picked up the song noting Dias' criticism of Trump and SPIN posted it too, adding that "Black & Gray," "is a mournful call-to-arms anthem for the Trump era."

"Black & Gray" is available today via all DSPS and can be purchased HERE or streamed HERE. Os Mutantes will bring its live show back to the US this month, playing the Tropicalia Music Festival in Long Beach, CA on November 11th (purchase tickets HERE). Stay tuned for more information!
