LOWELL'S Debut LP 'We Loved Her Dearly' Out 9/16
|Pure Prairie League to Play The Colonial Theatre, 11/15|
October 21, 2014
Lowell is like dynamite: ferocious, unrelenting, and determined - but not only when it comes to her music. Writing each song to empower not only herself, but also her listeners -- to challenge gender conventions and inspire freedom from social limitations. Lowell's refreshingly rebellious approach is what stands her unique brand of sophisticated synth-infused pop apart from the rest. She brilliantly blends deliriously catchy melodies and feminist punk gender politics on her debut full-length record We Loved Her Dearly, set for release September 16 via Arts & Crafts!
Lowell's debut I Killed Sara V. EP garnered the attention of fans and critics alike- includingNPR All Songs Considered, who hailed her as a new artist to watch at SXSW 2014. We recently revealed a video via VICE's Noisey for previously shared cut "88," a song filled with Lowell's remarkable vocals that sear through erratic yet melodic percussion. The debut EP left fans eagerly wanting more and We Loved Her Dearly truly delivers.
To announce her debut album, Lowell's shared the track "I Love You Money", a feminist manifesto with echoing howls, driving bass and anthemic lyrics such as "you live in a man's world, I live in my own world." "I Love You Money" was revealed today with The New York Times' T Magazine and the song is available to listen & share HERE!
In addition to writing openly about topics like sexual abuse, rape, abortion, and women's rights, Lowell boldly addresses the lack of LGBTQ rights in our society - as heard in the celebratory track "LGBT". Taking a cue from the feminist-punk contemporaries that her messaging has often been compared to (Grimes, Beth Ditto), Lowell's brand of pop conveys the urgency of her subject matter, but her melodies keep songs accessible, optimistic and fun.
Lowell's charmingly earnest yet raucous live show commands audiences to their feet. Fans in Toronto will have a chance to experience it live as she performance at the TIME Festivalalongside Flume, Grimes, Majical Cloudz, Death Grips and more.
Stay tuned for more from Lowell coming soon!
