Kurt Baker Combo to Release 'In Orbit', Today

A master of hooks and melody, Kurt Baker's music embodies a feel-good spirit wrapped in a punk rock sheen inspired by music of decades past. The Kurt Baker Combo will release In Orbit on October 28 via Wicked Cool Records.

The album's first single, "Baby's Gone Bad" is out now and has already been featured by Steven Van Zandt (The E Street Band) as "The Coolest Song In The World" on his nationally syndicated radio program and Sirius XM channel, Little Steven's Underground Garage.

After releasing several records with The Leftovers, the Maine native struck out solo and released three full-length albums, along with a prolific output of B-sides and covers, touring with the likes of The Offspring and Tommy Stinson. He soon caught the attention of noted tastemaker Steven Van Zandt, guitarist in Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, radio host of Little Steven's Underground Garage, and proprietor of Wicked Cool Records--not to mention Silvio on The Sopranos.

In Orbit is Baker's fourth full-length album and first effort recorded with his Spain-based band Kurt Baker Combo. It's also the initial new release in Wicked Cool's new partnership with The Orchard. The fearsome four-piece group has been touring like madmen all throughout Kurt's new adopted home country, Spain.

Featuring nine original songs plus an electrifying cover of Devo's "Jerkin' Back 'N' Forth," In Orbit is a fast-paced, high-energy ride rooted in rock's past yet with eyes wide open toward a brave new world of melodic rock energy. Get ready for liftoff, because Kurt Baker Combo are headed for the stars.

Wicked Cool Records evolved out of "Little Steven" Van Zandt's weekly syndicated radio show and SiriusXM channel Little Steven's Underground Garage. Van Zandt founded the label as a way to further support new rock & roll that wasn't receiving the recognition it deserved. Among the label's releases are ten critically acclaimed compilations including Halloween A Go-Go, Christmas A Go-Go and The Coolest Songs In The World Volumes 1-8, featuring music from the Underground Garage. In 2016 Wicked Cool Records began a unique distribution deal and partnership with The Orchard encompassing both the label's back catalog and all new Wicked Cool releases.
