In theaters everywhere tomorrow, MISS SLOANE fictionalizes the fight for gun reform on Capitol Hill. It tells the story of a lobbyist (Chastain) hired by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence to help pass a bill in the Senate expanding Brady background checks to all gun sales. Last year, the film's writers, producers, and cast met with Dan Gross, president of the real Brady Campaign, for advice, guidance, and insight as the script and characters were developed.
Gross said, "We're thankful to the film's team for not only seeking out our help with this project, but for tackling the issue of gun violence and bringing it to a broader audience on the silver screen. Trust me, this movie will spark the ongoing conversation about gun violence that we must continue to have in this country. "Working with the entertainment industry to integrate the realities of gun violence into television and film has been a key piece of Brady's strategy over the past year and we couldn't be more pleased with the results we are seeing in movie theaters, on television, and online. "This is Hollywood, and of course liberties were taken for the sake of a well-paced thriller. But there were some clear challenges that they got right. We are outspent by the corporate gun lobby. Nearly all Americans do support background checks - 93 percent, to be exact. And yes, gun violence is a preventable public health crisis.Videos
