GET LOCAL Debuts at MN's The O'Shaughnessy, 9/14
St. Kate's Student Activities Office and the O'Shaughnessy present Get Local, September 14th.
Featuring Hip Hop artists K.Raydio and More than Lights, Get Local is bringing together local artists for one night only filled with poetry, dance, funk, soul, and R&B. Experience the musical ancestries of Minneapolis and St. Paul through these incredible and passionate artists. Debuting in 2012, Get Local showcases performers who are both Minnesota artists and St. Catherine University favorites. This year's line-up includes the band More Than Lights, singer K. Raydio and a headliner to be announced.
The show plays one night only Friday, September 14, 2012 at 7:30 pm at the O’Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for adult groups of 10 or more. K.Raydio (otherwise known as Krysta Rayford) is a self-proclaimed ‘daughter of the Midwest’. This singer/songwriter has released two EP’s performed in multiple Twin Cities ‘Hot Spot’ venues including First Avenue’s 7th Street Entry, Cabooze, and Varsity Theater. Her recent single “The Way It Goes”, was released in March, 2012 and connects the past with the present through the experience of changes that a person faces when returning to one’s hometown after college.
More Than Lights is a musical group made up of 7 artists brought together to make rich tunes for all to enjoy! Their music is similar to the sound produced by Michael Franti and Spearhead, N*E*R*D, The Roots, Atmosphere, and Sly & The Family Stone. Their music has been aired nationally and has been played on television networks such as MTV; the group has spent a significant amount of time touring throughout 2010 and 2011. Band Members include Zach Combs, Unicus Harry, Natalie Fine, Reuben Rodriguez, and Matiu Unga, Corey Hess, and Jellyfish John.
