Today, new Austin-based experimental psych-folk project The Dan Ryan debuts "Tidewater Rain Love" via FLOOD Magazine. The song is the second official single from the upcoming self-titled LP, out May 27 via Cosmic Dreamer Music. The Dan Ryan LP will also be the first official release from the Venice, CA-based label.
Although it could have been plucked straight from the later era of The Beatles, "Tidewater Rain Love" is the most recent offering from the Austin-via-Chicago project of musician Nathan Dixey. Says Nathan, "'Tidewater Rain Love' is a song I wrote after touring France with my friend Jordan Geiger's group Hospital Ships and later traveling to California with my girlfriend. At that time, I felt a great sense of liberation; a shift in perspective from weathering a great storm to opening myself up to new people and places, ideas and feelings. A liberation and sense of limitlessness emerged from those trips." Indeed, a sonic sense of limitlessness also shines through the reverb-effect guitar lines, dreamy echoed vocals, and expansive production. Formed in 2011 as a side project in Lawrence, KS, The Dan Ryan is now based in Austin, TX, where the debut LP was home-recorded between December 2013 to July 2014. Psychedelic and deeply personal, these songs bear a chapter of change and evoke the fleeting nature of one's perspective on life.Stream and Share "Tidewater Rain Love" Here
