Five Boroughs Music Festival Presents Brooklyn Rider at Flushing Town Hall 12/2

Five Boroughs Music Festival (5BMF) presents a concert by genre-defying string quartet Brooklyn Rider on Friday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Flushing Town Hall in Queens. The concert is the second performance in 5BMF's tenth anniversary season of bringing world-class, affordable chamber music to every borough in New York City.

The program features Philip Glass' String Quartet No. 3, "Mishima", Janá?ek?'s String Quartet No. 1, "The Kreutzer Sonata", and Brooklyn Rider member Colin Jacobsen's BTT, which is a tribute to the New York downtown music scene of an earlier era that included Glenn Branca, John Lurie, Meredith Monk, the Velvet Underground, the Ramones, and many more. Also on the program is Beethoven's String Quartet No. 11 in F Minor, Op. 95.

Additional performances in Five Boroughs Music Festival's season feature the world premieres of the twenty new commissions inspired by New York City places, themes and poetry that comprise the Five Borough Songbook, Volume II on Saturday, February 11 at 8:00 p.m. at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, with an additional performance on Sunday, February 12 at 3:00 p.m. at Flushing Town Hall in Queens; a concert entitled SULTANA: Music of the Sephardic Diaspora by adventurous world music band East of the River on Thursday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope, Brooklyn; and OFF THE BEATEN TRACK: Chamber Works from Moravia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland and beyond by early music group Quicksilver on Friday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at King Manor Museum in Jamaica, Queens, and on Saturday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
