The Ridgefield Playhouse stage will be graced by "triple threat" singer, songwriter, actress Crystal Bowersox, who was the runner-up on the ninth season of American Idol in 2010 and has the distinction of being the first female finalist in three years, on Sunday, September 15, at 8 p.m. Crystal is on a national tour before she heads for Broadway where she will star in the premiere of Ted Swindley's Always... Patsy Cline this fall in the title role. Special guest is rising star singer/songwriter and guitarist Emily Elbert, whose most recent album is Alive, In Love. This event is partially underwritten by Urgent Care of Connecticut and is part of the Xfinity Rock Series.

With a strong voice and sweet style, Bowersox shines in concert, typically performing both original music and covers while playing guitar and accompanied by her band. At a July performance, Crystal's version of Patsy Cline's Sweet Dreams "paid tribute to the original without slavishly copying it, and Me and Bobby Magee had a rousing energy..." Crystal Bowersox has made it her mission to live life and her music to the fullest. Her first two albums are Farmer's Daughter and All That for This. After Always ... Patsy Cline debuts in the fall, Bowersox will release her first holiday album, which she hints will feature "amazing guests."

A consummate artist whose uncompromising vision of herself and her music is refreshing and rare, Crystal exudes a gentle warmth and wisdom well beyond her years. "I believe if you stand for something, stand your ground; stand it strong and stand it proud," she says. It is this fortitude and courageous spirit that resonated with millions night after night when the 2010 American Idol runner- up took the stage.

For tickets ($35, $45 includes Gold Circle Meet & Greet), call the box office at 203-438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
