Cobi Premieres Highly Anticipated EP, 'Songs From the Ashes (PT. 2)'

Smooth vocalist, brilliant guitarist and all around talent, Cobi, releases his second EP, "Songs From The Ashes (PT. 2)" on Billboard.

The EP showcases the effectiveness of his songwriting skills with soaring vocals and intricate, yet grounded instrumentals. Billboard noted, "The EP instantly jumps into new territory with the jolting "Church Of The Lonely," which builds on Cobi's powerhouse vocals with synth flourishes and a searing electric guitar that weaves itself throughout the rest of the set. Cobi crafts an anthemic protest song on the second track, "Burnin' One Down," before giving a nourishing dose of life-affirming soul on closer "Rising Phoenix."

The EP is a follow up to last year's "Songs From the Ashes (PT. 1)" and in Cobi's words, "touches on my feelings of loneliness in America, violence, and everlasting love. It's also an homage to the music I love from the 70s - Rock, Reggae, and Soul."

Cobi began his solo music journey in May 2016, when he released his debut single, "Don't Cry For Me". It caught the ear of industry veteran Lyor Cohen who immediately signed Cobi to his label 300 Entertainment. The track reached #1 on Spotify's Most Viral Chart (World), rose to the top of SiriusXM's Spectrum Chart and has surpassed 30 million streams to date. The music video, depicting police brutality in America, debuted on The Shade Room, with a live performance on NPR to follow. Cobi then toured some of the world's most iconic venues (Hollywood Bowl, Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, etc) with EDM heavyweights Above & Beyond, and signed a worldwide deal with top independent publisher Roundhill Music.

Being a Minnesota native, Cobi was honored when long-time Prince musical director, Morris Hayes, embraced the opportunity to perform together on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, before Cobi hit the road. He played at major festivals such as Lollapalooza, Firefly, BottleRock, Hangout and Electric Forest. Later that year, Cobi collaborated with Grammy Award winning producer Anthony Kilhoffer (John Legend, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, etc) on his forthcoming album.

"Songs From The Ashes (PT. 1)" was released at the end of 2017. The featured track, "Goddess", racked up millions of streams, was remixed by Australian producer M4Sonic and landed Cobi as one of SoundCloud's 2018 "Artists to Watch." On Sept 13, 2018 Cobi performed with The New Power Generation (Prince's backing band) at their Pay Per View event honoring Prince.

"Songs From The Ashes (PT. 2)" is available via 300 Entertainment.
