E! News reports exclusively that Ashlee Simpson Ross gave birth to a baby girl, her first child with husband Evan Ross, on Thursday night.

A source tells the site, "Their whole family was around to support them. Evan was very emotional and loves Ashlee so much. He did not leave her side and wanted to go through this with her every step of the way. He can't wait to be a dad. He would do anything for Ashlee and now this baby girl. Ashlee is doing great and can't wait to get home to to be with her family."

The baby joins the singer's 6-year-old son Bronx, from her previous marriage to Pete Wentz. When news broke of her second pregnancy, Simpson said of her son, "He's excited. He's so excited. He's excited that it's a girl. He thinks it's cute-the tea parties-she'll be adorable."

In 2009, the multi-platinum recording artist made her Broadway stage debut as she reprised the role of Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning hit musical CHICAGO for a ten-week limited engagement. She first took on Roxie Hart in 2006, when she played the role to critical acclaim in London's West End production of CHICAGO, and later that year participated in the special one-night-only 10th anniversary benefit performance at the Ambassador Theatre.
