Bergen Performing Arts Center Presents MUTTS GONE NUTS: CANINE CABARET

Bergen Performing Arts Center located at 30 North Van Brunt Street in Englewood, New Jersey is collecting donations for Save The Animals Rescue Team II (START II), a volunteer group based in Englewood, NJ during the month of October to culminate at the performance of Mutts Gone Nuts: Canine Cabaret-Sunday November 6, 2016 at 1PM.

Donations can be made in specially marked boxes in the bergenPAC lobby and The Performing Arts School during box office and school hours. Box Office hours are M-F 11am - 4pm and Sat 12-4pm. The Box Office is also open two hours prior to performances and during all shows.

In keeping with its mission of supporting the local community, bergenPAC is holding its annual pet donation drive for START II.

"Studies show that just like the live performing arts, companion animals are important community builders," said Dominic Roncace, bergenPAC President and CEO. "Pet ownership is similar to the live performing arts because it can be an antidote to social isolation, loneliness and lack of social support. We are happy to support all pets big and small with this annual drive."

One of the few NO KILL Animal Shelters in Northern New Jersey, START II originated 40 years ago in Elmwood Park out of private homes. The President, who was volunteering for Passaic County's START I, saw a need in Bergen County and created START II. Through expansion, a large permanent location was established in Englewood, NJ. "This is a fabulous opportunity to be working so closely with bergenPAC being local in Englewood. They greatly take time to help out non-profit organizations in need," said Marge Kayne, President and Founder of START II.

The non-profit, all volunteer, no-kill animal rescue groups take animals from high kill shelters. The group has approximately 120 volunteers and in 2015 took into its care 812 animals and adopted out 810. START II relies solely on donations and its adoptions in order to run the shelter and its animals.

The donation wish list includes food, toys, blankets, towels and rugs. Monetary donations and gift cards for gas, spay/neuter, pet stores and supply stores are always appreciated. "With the community's support we can find permanent, loving homes for adoptable dogs and cats in the North Jersey area," said Kayne. "No donation is too small. By helping with donations, donors are helping the volunteers of the animal shelter and its animals in need. Even a small token makes a difference in the lives of homeless animals and in the local community," Kayne concluded.
