RAIN MAN Among Classics Set for Thirteen's REEL 13 This May

May Classics are 'Top of their Genres' on Reel 13 on THIRTEEN. This month's selections include some of the American Film Institute's best thriller, inspirational, courtroom and sports films.

Each of Reel 13's classic selections for the month of May has been recognized on one of the American Film Institute's iconic lists compiling the greatest films across a variety of genres.

The original version of Planet of the Apes came in at #59 out of the 100 best American thrillers (May 4). Rain Man was named among the "AFI's 100 Years...100 Cheers" most inspirational films (May 11). Witness for the Prosecution (May 18) and Hoosiers (May 25), were featured in the "Courtroom Drama" and "Sports" categories respectively on "AFI's 10 Top 10" (America's 10 greatest films in 10 classic genres).

Acclaimed indie films Beijing Bicycle (2002), You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010), The Company (2003), and Barney's Version (2010)round out theMay's Reel 13 Indie selections.

Every Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m., viewers can catch a Classic hosted by film historian Neal Gabler, followed by an Indie, hosted by Richard Peña. The evening concludes with a Short selected by visitors to Reel13.org who vote for their favorite of three shorts every week.

"Planet of the Apes" (1968) Dir: Franklin J. Schaffner
An astronaut time-travels to a future planet ruled by apes who keep human slaves. With Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, and Kim Hunter.

"Beijing Bicycle" (2002) Dir: Xiaoshuai Wang
A 17-year-old courier enlists the help of a schoolboy to find his stolen bicycle. With Lin Cui, Bin Li, and Xun Zhou.

"Rain Man" (1988) Dir: Barry Levinson
A wheeler-dealer (Tom Cruise) meets his brother (Dustin Hoffman), an autistic-savant and heir to $3 million. Also starring Valeria Golino.

"You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger" (2010) Dir: Woody Allen
Two marriages head for the rocks. With Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, and Naomi Watts.

"Witness for the Prosecution" (1957) Dir: Billy Wilder
A barrister defends an accused murderer despite damaging testimony from his wife. With Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich, and Charles Laughton.

"The Company" (2003)Dir: Robert Altman
Neve Campbell plays a ballet dancer poised for stardom. With Malcolm McDowell and James Franco.

"Hoosiers" (1986) Dir: David Anspaugh
A college basketball coach leaves the Navy in 1951 and coaches an underdog Indiana high-school team. With Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey, and Dennis Hopper.

"Barney's Version" (2010) Dir: Richard J. Lewis
Paul Giamatti won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the coarse but loveable Barney. With Dustin Hoffman and Rosamund Pike.
