Obama's America Part 2: Hit Movie '2016' to Update Fans with New Short Film

News hit TheWrap.com today that the #1 film of 2012 in it's genre is back - but with a twist: In an unprecedented move, the team behind '2016: Obama's America' is releasing an update to the film that will provide fans who either purchased the DVD or watched the film in theaters or online with a look at how the film's predictions of a second Obama term have fared. The #1 documentary of 2012 and the #2 political documentary of all time trailing only Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 911,' the film earned an unprecedented $33 million at the U.S. box office during its release.

2016: Obama's America is a 2012 documentary by conservativeauthor and commentator Dinesh D'Souza. The film was produced byGerald R. Molen. D'Souza and John Sullivan co-directed and co-wrote the film, which is based on D'Souza's book The Roots of Obama's Rage (2010). Through interviews and reenactments, the film compares the similarities of the lives of D'Souza and President Barack Obamaas D'Souza presents his theory of how early influences on Obama are affecting the decisions he makes as president. The film has grossed over $33.45 million in the United States, making it the fourth highest-grossing documentary (domestically) since 1982.

As of 12 March 2013, the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a 26% rating as determined by the reviews of 31 critics. As of October 3, 2012 the aggregator site Metacritic gives the film a "Mixed or average" rating of 40/100 based on 11 reviews.
