As of last fall, Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons were also in talks to join the Warner Bros. film, which has been in development since 2011. The project "centers on a mild-mannered accountant (Affleck) who moonlights as a lethal assassin."

Lithgow will portray 'Lamar Black', described as "a tech magnate in the robotics field who hires Affleck's character to look at his company's accounting given some recent irregularities."

The actor is currently starring on Broadway opposite Glenn Close in A Delicate Balance. Before that, he appeared onstage in The Columnist, All My Sons, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Retreat From Moscow, The Play What I Wrote, Sweet Smell of Success (for which he won a Tony Award in 2007), M. Butterfly, Requiem for a Heavyweight, The Changing Room -- which earned Lithgow his first Tony in 1973 -- and more.

Lithgow is lending his voice to Disney's upcoming film The Good Dinosaur. He recently starred in Interstellar, The Homesman and Love Is Strange and appeared on TV in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and How I Met Your Mother.
