Janeane Garafolo, Phyllis Somerville (The Double) and Jordan Carlos (Guy Code), are among the cast members set for 3rd Street Blackout which goes into production in June. Co-Directors Negin Farsad (The Muslims are Coming!, Nerdcore Rising) and Jeremy Redleaf (Sesame Street) announced the news today.

Filmed in lower New York City, 3rd Street Blackout follows a technology-obsessed couple as they become suddenly unplugged in NYC during Hurricane Sandy. Arthur French (God's Pocket), comedian Rachel Feinstein, Katie Hartman and newcomer Miles J. Harvey round out the cast for the feature film.

"We're thrilled with this amazing cast! And, we really want to look at our over-dependence on technology - what happens when everything suddenly goes analog? You start making eye contact. Its weird." commented Farsad. "The hope is that 3rd Street Blackout can make a comment about intimacy in a world of hyper-connectivity where we have all but forgotten our neighbors," Redleaf added.

The Comedy is co-directed by Farsad and Redleaf based on an original screenplay penned by the duo who are producing the film with the Emmy Award winning editor/producer Andrew Mendelson. Consulting producer is Susan Leber (Obvious Child, Margin Call), Sam Goldberg and Max Born are Executive Producers.

The multi-hyphenate Farsad, standup comic-cum-TEDFellow who also began her career as a policy advisor for the City of New York, recently released The Muslims are Coming! and helmed the much acclaimed Nerdcore Rising. Redleaf won an Emmy Award for his work on Sesame Street and is a consultant on a number of shows including Funny or Die's Billy on the Street for Fuse.
