Jane Goldman, the acclaimed writer behind hit films such as KICK-ASS, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, and THE WOMAN IN BLACK, has entered negotiations to update the script for Tim Burton's upcoming adaptation of the classic children's tale PINOCCHIO, the Hollywood Reporter announced tonight. Robert Downey Jr. will reportedly star in the film.

No official deal has yet been struck between Burton and Downey - meaning neither have totally committed. Goldman's reported entrance on the film insinuates that a full commitment is close, however.

In Bryan Fuller's initial script for the film, being being developed at Warner Bros., Downey would take on the role of woodcarving Geppetto, the man who "creates a puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy and whose nose grows when he tells a lie."

No other casting is rumored at this time. TalkMovies World will keep you updated as an official deal becomes more concrete.
