According to The Hollywood Reporter, Irrfan Khan and Omar Sy have signed on for Ron Howard's INFERNO, starring Tom Hanks.

Based on the book by Dan Brown, INFERNO is the third of Brown's novel's to be brought to the big screen, after THE DA VINCI CODE and ANGELS & DEMONS. David Koepp penned the script.

In the film, "Harvard symbologist Henry Langdon (Hanks) awakens in an Italian hospital with amnesia. He teams up with Sienna Brooks, the role Jones is being considered for, a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories and prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante's Inferno."

Khan will play the Provost, described as "the head of a shadowy group that becomes involved with Langdon," with Sy as "the leader of a disease prevention team." Sidse Babett Knudsen has also joined the cast and will play the director of the World Health Organization. Felicity Jones is also in talks to board the project.

INFERNO will hit theaters on October 14, 2016.

Khan will soon be seen in JURASSIC WORLD, as well as several Indian movies and a World War II mini-series. He is known for his roles in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, LIFE OF PIE and SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.

Among Sy's past film credits are THE INTOUCHABLES, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, GOOD PEOPLE, SAMBA and more. He will next appear with Khan in JURASSIC WORLD, as well as the film CHOCOLAT.
