This winter, venture to the enchanting land of pines by the sea and enjoy the crisp breeze as you take a leisurely stroll along the Cambria shorelines. After exploring, head into town and enjoy handcrafted, global cuisine at one of the village's charming restaurants and couple a perfect glass of coastal wine with culinary wonders.

Jollities:
This December, join villagers at the Cambria Pines Lodge and discover spectacular lights, food, music and nightly entertainment at the Cambria Christmas Market. From Dec. 1-Dec. 23, this annual festivity incorporates the traditions of Germany's Christmas Markets, enriching Cambria's eclectic village with a festive market of homemade Christmas ornaments, toys, hand-blown glass items, candles and specialty German foods. With luscious gardens and cabin structures, this fireside location will add the warmth of the holidays to your vacation. Visit http://www.cambriachristmasmarket.com for more information.

Experience the captive beauty of Hearst Castle at Christmastime. Tour the Assembly Room, Refectory and Morning Room, all embellished with handmade garlands, brilliant red poinsettias and two 18-foot Christmas trees; fully decorated with lights and traditional ornaments. This California jewel, located just 15 miles away from Cambria, is another ideal place to savor the holiday season on the coast. Dec. 1 marks the opening of daily tours, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day. For more information, visit http://www.hearstcastle.com.

Merrymaking:
After the events are done, there is still fun to be had in Cambria. Though winter has arrived, the cold won't keep you inside; add a bit of "doing good and feeling good" to your vacation with Cambria's many Stewardship Travel opportunities, like joining Stolo Family Winery & Vineyards every first Saturday of the month on their 23 acre vineyard. Take an educational walk through the vineyards and learn the history of the location, the benefits of planting a vineyard crop on agricultural land, and what it takes to maintain a low yield, high quality vineyard in a coastal location. To make reservations, contact Stolo Family Winery at (805) 924-3131 or info(at)stolofamilywinery(dot)com.

Winter in Cambria is also the perfect time to see Covell's Clydesdales escapade about the 2,000 acres of the sea ranch's pristine Monterey Pine forests and pastures. Stop by to take in the countryside and ocean views from the ranch as you make your way down the Highway 46 scenic drive.

From the Box Office:
This holiday, celebrate with laughter at the Pewter Plough Playhouse now through Dec. 29. A Tuna Christmas, written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard is noted for the talents of two men playing the entire cast of more than 20 eccentric characters. The play celebrates (with humor) small town life; where the outrageously funny characters of Tuna, Texas, celebrate the holidays in the state's third smallest town.
