ZoieLogic Dance Theatre's powerful new production, SAFE, is dance theatre at its most thrilling. Set against the imagined backdrop of the Empire State Building, five highly talented dancers take on New York City's fabled skyline as they inhabit the dangerous world of the 1930's construction workers. With a punchy choreographic language driven by a visceral music score, the dancers combine a heady mix of bravery, determination and camaraderie in this heart-racing dance theatre piece which tours from February 12th.

SAFE is performed on a specially designed set of steel, aluminium and wood; the dancers perform on and around the set which develops as the show progresses. Company founder and Artistic Director Zoie Golding was inspired to make the piece after visiting the Empire State Building and wondering what it must have felt like being hundreds of feet up in the air, exposed to the elements, working closely with other men and striving to build each layer on time, on budget and, above all, safely.

"SAFE is a piece about masculinity and brotherhood," says Zoie (left). "We've got five amazing dancers who inhabit the world of the construction workers whose equal measure of skill and bravery made the Empire State Building a ground-breaking first when it opened to the public in 1931. The audience will be drawn into the world of determination; they'll see stories unfold and how competitiveness and bravado led to a collective spirit and unique friendships."

The music for SAFE Jules Maxwell has an epic, cinematic feel and will push open the frames of action while bringing out individual stories about each character. Audiences will be drawn right into the action, the stories, the music, the entire experience. Like the Empire State Building itself, ZoieLogic Dance Theatre's production is chock full of ambitious imagination, hope, optimism, collective spirit and the ultimate friendship that only common ground can bring.

South West shows of SAFE are presented by Shift and Share, Pavilion Dance South West's Strategic Touring Project. It has been designed to bring dance to more audiences in the South West and is being supported by Arts Council England.

ZoieLogic Dance Theatre was founded by Artistic Director Zoie Golding to develop work for male dancers and to make work that challenges opinions of male culture in the public eye. Associate Artist at the Point in Eastleigh, ZoieLogic Dance Theatre is also a Discovery Artist at Pavilion Dance in Bournemouth. The company blends highly physical, powerful dance with a narrative core; an entirely male dance experience with highly trained dancers who perform on cleverly designed sets.
