The Ohio State University Department of Dance Presents SNEAK PEEK, Now thru 4/12

The Ohio State University Department of Dance presents Sneak Peek, its Spring Studio Showing, a dance concert featuring works by undergraduate and graduate student choreographers tonight, April 10 and Friday, April 11 at 8 p.m., and Saturday, April 12, at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Barnett Theatre in the newly renovated Sullivant Hall, 1813 N. High St.

The show features the senior projects of bachelor of fine arts (BFA) candidates, as well as works created by other undergraduate and graduate dance students. Sneak Peek will be the first dance concert in the new Barnett Theatre, a 180-seat, black-box theatre on the historic building's third floor.

On the program:
• With his work "Why do the birds keep singing?" Josh Hines will perform a duet inspired by horror movies with Megan Davis and in collaboration with Paige Phillips.
• Erin Kerr presents "Sender to Receiver," a piece based on the interaction of communication and technology.
• Kim Isaacs explores the vulnerability, tension and intimacy of a romantic relationship with "A la recherché du temps perdu," a duet.
• Victoria Alesi creates a duet that highlights the angles of the body and challenges her dancers' abilities to adapt in space and time with "Perfectly Square."
• Choreographed by Shannon Drake andMel Mark, "The First Thing You See" was first developed at Bates Dance Festival using techniques by award-winning choreographers Doug Varone and Stephan Koplowitz.
• In "Click.GO," Adam Houston presents a cast of 10 female dancers with ideas of feminine and masculine qualities and an athletic attack.
• Ca'la Henderson explores the ups and downs of a love triangle with "Inevitable Poison".
• Using movement and text, Sarah Levitt, in collaboration with Daniel Diller, stages "Happiness," a solo study on the nature of prayer, repetition and habit.
• Noelle Bohaty aims to explore the journey in seeking the intangible with "between us; or bare."
• Emily Colizoli performs "Adorn Her..." a highly characterized solo exploring power, strength and sensuality as choreographed by Tawanda Chabikwa.
• Elyse Morckel and Lauren Bedal present their yearlong collaboration "Scat in VII," an exploration of space, which was included in this year's American College Dance Festival.
• Emily Gonzalez-Beban investigates how a choreographer can exploit human tendency to over-read meaning and intentionality in her quartet "and faith, which is surely the devil's masterpiece."
