23 years after the original, Heidi Duckler will completely re-imagine Parts and Labor Redux with choreography that explores America's love affair with the automobile. In addition to dancers performing on and around a 1970 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, percussionists from the band "Antenna Repairmen" will turn the classic car into an instrument and create an original score.

On Thursday Jan. 22, the Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre will open Parts and Labor Redux at Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE) and reprise the show the following night. On Jan. 24, the performance space moves to the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). All performances begin at 8pm.

"In 1992 we didn't recognize the car as a mobile site, but simply as something that was iconic to LA culture," Duckler said. "Now, we practically live in our cars. The car represents a connectedness to our past and our future--I'm bringing back this piece at the beginning of a year as we celebrate our accomplishments and look forward to where we want to go, both literally and figuratively. "

The re-imagining of the piece marks the first performance in Duckler's 30th season, a milestone Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre will commemorate with an ambitious roster of performances and events throughout 2015.

The Jan. 22 and 23 performances are part of a partnership with LACE and provide a great opportunity for the LA-area community to check out both the performance and LACE. Tickets cost $40 for general admission, $20 for students/seniors and attendees will have the opportunity to tour the exhibits after the performance.

The closing night show at SCI-Arc includes an after-party catered by the Jonathan Gold-approved Guerrilla Tacos immediately following the performance. Tickets cost $100. Tickets to all performances can be purchased at heididuckler.org. Venue information can be found at welcometolace.org and sciarc.edu.
