As the first of its kind, the Queensboro Dance Festival will launch in its inaugural year this Oct 20-26 at The Secret Theatre in Long Island City. This year's festival will feature 24 Queens-based choreographers, celebrating dance talent in the borough and bringing together the Queens dance community for 7 evenings of events and performances.

The Queensboro Dance Festival participants hail from neighborhoods including Fresh Meadows, Flushing, Jackson Heights, Woodside, Astoria, Forest Hills, and Long Island City. The festival begins with a kick-off preview party for choreographers and public to mingle. Tickets are $15 advanced and $18 at the door and are available online at secrettheatre.com or through our dedicated website www.queensborodancefestival.com.

"We wanted to give the opportunity for Queens dance to have a visible identity, and for our creative community to come together," says Queensboro Dance Festival Founder Karesia Batan. Dance NYC and their New Yorkers for Dance campaign have joined QDF as a community partner, as well as Spaceworks Long Island City.

The Queensboro Dance Festival is co-produced by The Physical Plant and The Secret Theatre. The Physical Plant, led by artistic director Karesia Batan, is an emerging modern dance company dedicated to producing meaningful programming for fellow dance artists. Under the direction of Richard Mazda, The Secret Theatre is an independent theatre and rehearsal facility, home to contemporary and classical drama, musicals, classes, events, and The Queens Players theater company.
