Festival Ballet Providence closes its 37th repertory season with the third installment of its popular black box theatre series Up Close on Hope and caps off the run with Fiestaval, a fundraising event,, on April 26, 2015.

Up Close on Hope, which opened April 10, includes nine new works, seven of which are either company or world premieres. Two works, 3-23 by Jorge Rullán, one of the youngest choreographers ever to have work presented by the company, and For Susan, by FBP's artistic director, Mihailo (Misha) Djuric, were performed recently on the main-stage at The Vets. Setting them in the intimate proximity that the black box theatre offers gives the audience a new perspective on these works.

Other works include All the Birds Become Silent to the Moon's Complaints, a brand new piece by Vilia Putrius, which follows a young woman's emotional, tragic descent into self-loathing and eventual suicide. Joseph Morrissey, a rising choreographer whose work In Passing was featured in FBP's last season, contributes a work titled Mein Weg. The work is a group piece for five dancers, each on their own individual path ("mein weg" means "my path" in German) while intersecting with each other at diverse moments in time and space. Critics have lauded contemporary choreographer Sydney Skybetter's Near Abroad, a tender duet for two men that BroadwayWorld.com critic Veronica Bruscini said, "explores strength and synchronicity in complimentary motion."

The day after the final performance, FBP is producing a festive season-end fundraiser called Fiestaval. The event will have an open margarita and beer bar, food by B. Pinelli's Simply Italian, and a raffle with three prizes worth $5,400 collectively. A giant party tent, wine sampling table, and a live DJ and dancing are highlights of the event.

Tickets for Up Close on Hope are $50, and reservations for Fiestaval are $75. Both are available online at festivalballetprovidence.org.
