It's December... it's dance... but it ain't The Nutcracker. Chicago Dance Crash and its hip hop/contemporary aesthetic travel to the 'the last frontier' to see how some of its favorite dance makers work within a very special set of circumstances.

Established choreographers of all styles work within a "Crash-like" environment to create an evening-length conceptual concert!

Both guest and in-house choreos have each been asked to create a premier dance work based on nothing more than the following three stipulations:

  1. Alaska.
  2. 100 years in the future.
  3. Immediately following a worldwide catastrophe.

Aside from Crash's conventional array of flips, turns, and superhuman athleticism, the creative reality of "New Alaska" begs for anything from neo-wildlife and mutations to bright whites, month-long evenings, and aurora borealis.

The performance includes new works from rhythmic hip hop artist Stephanie Paul, Luna Negra Dance Theater alum Kirsten Shelton, gymnast and "Cuban modern" dancer Michel Rodriguez Cintra, Pursuit Productions founder Ahmad Simmons, as well as CDC's own Kaitlin Webster & Artistic Director Jessica Deahr.

Chicago Dance Crash's run of "New Alaska" is proudly presented in association with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events.

Performances are Fridays-Sundays, December 4 - 20th 2015. Fridays and Saturdays at 730pm. Sundays at 2pm. The Storefront Theater at 66 E. Randolph St. Chicago, IL 60601. There are multiple parking garages in the immediate vicinity, including the Millennium Garages and 20 East Randolph, and the theater is easily accessible by CTA bus or train. Tickets are $15. Tickets can be reserved by calling 800.595.4TIX or by visiting www.chicagodancecrash.com. The performance is appropriate for all ages.
