Next week Carolyn Dorfman Dance, whose bold and dramatic works connect life and movement, will head to the Sarajevo Winter Festival in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, February 15-23rd, for the first leg of its 2015 touring season. Interior Designs, Dorfman's work that features a collaborative score by Sarajevo-native Svjetlana Bukvich, will be the highlight of the tour. Additionally, the company celebrates its annual Gala performance March 13 at NJPAC (New Jersey Performing Arts Center) with the world premiere of Dorfman's newest work WAVES. Two engagements in Miami follow, with Dance Now March 28-29, and the Miami Dance Festival April 13-19. New York audiences will enjoy performances throughout the spring at Westchester Community College (April 25), a weeklong residency at Kaatsbaan International Arts Center (May 4-9), and a collaborative evening of dance at New York Live Arts (May 28-30).

"Creating new work with versatile dancers and collaborating artists remains my source of inspiration," remarks Carolyn Dorfman, Artistic Director of the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company. "This season encompasses creation, performance, and the opportunity to watch young artists flourish through our community teaching program. We're excited for this work to make a profound multi-level impact on the audiences and communities our dancers meet around the globe."

Doug Elkins' Narcoleptic Lovers, an eclectic work depicting a series of letters to former lovers, is a fitting opening for the company's joint program concert in the heart-shaped land of Sarajevo, February 22nd, followed by excerpts of the Klezmer Sketch from Dorfman's signature work Mayne Mentshn. Before concluding the evening with Dorfman's and Bukvich's collaborative work Interior Designs (2013), Ms. Bukvich will treat her countrymen to a 30-minute "ecstatic musical experience" of her own cutting edge sounds.

Dorfman presents the world premiere of Waves during the company's annual Gala evening at NJPAC on March 13th. With live music composed by Jessie Reagan, beat boxer and multi-instrumentalist Pete List, and recorder player Daphna Mor, the work is a sensation based exploration of music and dance. Klezmer Sketch and Under My Skin will round out the program. Max Kleinman (Executive VP/CEO, Emeritus, Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ) will receive the 2015 Encore Award and Laura Aden Packer (Executive Director Howard Gilman Foundation) the 2015 Keystone Award. Educational Partnership awards will be presented to Jeffrey Lesser (East Brunswick School District), James DeWorken (New Brunswick School District) and Dr. Scott Rubin (East Hanover School District, former Principal of Union County Vo Tech Academy of Performing Arts). The legendary Bucky Pizzarelli Trio, will also play during the gala reception, beginning at 6pm.

Next, Carolyn Dorfman and dancers head south in the Spring to Miami for a string of performances, school and community programs. DanceNOW Miami will perform Dorfman's moving work, Odisea, March 28-29. The company will return for the Miami Dance Festival and will perform two student excerpts of The Legacy Project on April 16, with Interior Designs, excerpts of Klezmer Sketch and Narcoleptic Lovers on April 18. The New York premiere of WAVES will be presented at Westchester Community College, April 25, along with Cat's Cradles and Narcoleptic Lovers. WAVES and Klezmer will be presented May 9 during the company's residency at Kaatsbaan International Arts Center. Lastly, in collaboration with Ariel Rivka at New York Live Arts, the company will perform Interior Designs on May 28, 29 and WAVES on May 30.
