Calpulli Mexican Dance Company brings its celebrated repertoire to Thalia Spanish Theatre for four weekends beginning April 25th through May 18th, 2014. The company of 12 dancers and core of musicians make their Thalia Spanish Theatre debut in a tribute to the joys and soul of Mexico. The program includes the debut of Flores Chiapanecas (Flowers from Chiapas) to be performed with live marimba accompaniment. The program captures the color, vivaciousness, and sense of new beginning that Spring-time delivers. Authentic costumes, passionate live music, and larger than life surprises are in store.

Under the Artistic Direction of Noemy Hernandez, and Alberto Lopez and Musical Direction of George Saenz, for 11 years Calpulli has recreated folk dances celebrating Mexican traditions and new works which employ non-traditional dance forms, all with live musical accompaniment.

Calpulli Mexican Dance Company celebrates the rich, regional dance traditions of Mexico's diverse cultural history, interpreted through its charismatic and unique artistic vision. Founded in 2003 by a group of artists in New York City, Calpulli is dedicated to the traditions of Mexico and Mexican-American cultural expression through dance and music. The company tours from coast-to-coast in the USA and made its international debut in 2013 by performing for one week in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Middle East. www.calpullidance.org
