An internationally acclaimed artist based in Fort Pierce has wrapped up a series of exhibits and fundraisers that took place during February and March with "Art from the Heart," a personal presentation, painting demonstration and hands-on workshop.

"Art from the Heart" at the Blake Library in Stuart and was part of a Martin County Library System series titled "Living History: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Stories." Guests, many with homes in Stuart and others who traveled from outside the area to attend, gathered in the Blake Library's John F. Armstrong Room for an opportunity to interpret Allison's colorful, impressionist paintings, as well as participate in a session on how to become an artist. Everyone was encouraged to put inspirational images onto their canvases.

"Art from the Heart" and followed months of shows, displays and appearances that helped raise money for SafeSpace, a nonprofit organization that aids victims of domestic violence by providing safety and support. Allison's efforts resulted in a $250 check being presented to SafeSpace CEO Jill Borowicz.

Waterfront Properties and Club Communities is proud of its Treasure Coast neighbor for choosing to use her talent for the greater good. Allison selected SafeSpace as the beneficiary because her art is aimed at enervating the spirit, strength and resilience that lies within the soul, and it ties in seamlessly with the nonprofit organization's art-therapy programs.

Allison not only is an internationally acclaimed artist but also is an author and an illustrator whose work is hanging in galleries from Jupiter to Jacksonville. Her Fort Pierce studio is Art Mundo Center for Creative Expression on Orange Avenue.

Women Supporting the Arts recently honored Allison with a grant to begin production of an illustrated-book series that will help victims of domestic violence and others in need to find their inner peace.
