11-Strong Trey McIntyre Project to Visit Portland, Maine, 3/22

Portland Ovations will present modern dance company Trey McIntyre Project at the Merrill Auditorium on Thursday, March 22 at 7:30pm.

For their Maine debut, Trey McIntyre Project of eleven dancers bring McIntyre works "Blue Until June" featuring the music of Etta James and "The Sweeter End" with an original score by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

On Wednesday, March 21 Trey McIntyre Project and Ovations Offstage will be offering a Modern Dance Masterclass for Advanced Beginner/Intermediate dancers from 11am to 12:30pm at Portland Arts and Technology High School (PATHS). Contact: offstage@portlandovations.org.

On Wednesday evening March 21 at 7 pm, inside ICA at Maine College of Art, Ovations Offstage and the Portland Arts and Cultural Alliance will be hosting "Creative Conversations: Art and the City" a discussion about what role can arts and culture play in shaping Portland.

Trey McIntyre Project began 2005. Trey McIntyre uses classical ballet technique as a departure point for exuberant dances. McIntyre has created works for Stuttgart Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, and others as well as his own company. During this year alone Trey McIntyre was named the United States Artists Wynn Fellow, the company was featured on PBS News Hour with Jim Lehrer and chosen by the U.S Department of State and Brooklyn Academy Of Music to participate in DanceMotion USA as a U.S. Cultural Ambassador, traveling to China, South Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam this spring.
